WinDVD BD for VAIO is used by 26 users of Software Informer. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 8.0, 8.0 beta and 9.7. The names of program executable files are WinDVD.exe, WinDVDFs.exe.
You might want to consider installing the latest version of WinDVD though I don't think version 8 would qualify you for the upgrade price. And I also have to confess that I don't know if WinDVD is like some of the other Corel products (like Video Studio or PaintShop Pro) where two or more versions can sit side by side on the same computer.
I have a several year old Sony VAIO desktop PC that came with Vista and WinDVD BD. Now sometimes when I try and play new BDs it comes up with a mesasge about needing to update the AACS key and it automatically opens a window to Corel (who I believe make Intervideo - WinDVD BD) to update it. It says makes sure Corel.com is added as a trusted site in Internet Explorer whihc I've done, it then says click next. This produces a window which says: Key Downloading Download of the authentication key will begin shortly. Please keep this window open until your download completes.
I too have just downloaded the latest Vaio update for WinDVD BD. On completion, I found that the update had uninstalled my current version and replaced it with a new one (new desktop shortcut).

Another option is to check and see if there is an update to the version of WinDVD BD you have and install it. I'm guessing lazyness on Corel or Sony's part and it points to a dead link or the software is no longer 'supported' which is often code for buy the newest version.

When I try to start the player it say's that SQPlus.dll is missing. I have tried Systen Restore to before the uninstall but this will not complete because it says it cannot access a file? Please LATEST: After many hours, I have found the missing SQPlus.dll. It was in my AVG virus vault. I have restored this using 'Ignore' and managed to load and use the new WinDVD player but when I restart, AVG prevents it loading again saying there is a virus present.hopefully not.
Hi there,I received a bluray disc for Christmas. I tried to play it on my laptop but WinDVD would not recognise the disk (the optical drive just keeps whirring). I got an update from the Sony web site which I downloaded and installed. So I have WinDVD version 8.8.0.282.525371 ( for VAIO ) now installed.

I am using Windows Vista SP2. Please could any one help? I don't really know anything about WinDVD, having given it up around version 8 (coincidentally), so hopefully someone with more hands-on experience will jump in here. Failing that, I would suspect that BD copyright technology has moved on a lot since version 8, and that version is probably just not capable of reading the new copyright technologies on recent BD discs. If you read some of the other posts in this WinDVD forum, you will see that people with more up to date versions are even having this sort of trouble.

All other versions and updates on the Sony Europe download site are only UPGRADES and will not install unless you have the original installer version on your computer before you run the update. If you have uninstalled WinDVD, the only way to recover it is as part of a full recovery back to factory settings. Nobody else has posted any problems with the latest update - yet. To add on your issues, allow me to post the following - unfortunately, this is not a solution for the issue =(. I've recently installed the WinDVD 8.8.0.154 update using Vaio Update on my Vaio VGN-AR71ZU. With the previous version, everything was perfectly fine. Now, I have serious issues playbacking BD-J discs.

Reinstalling everything (including the OS) from scratch is not an option. Now I'm left with no DVD/BD software. I'd like to get the previous version of the WinDVD software back (8.0-B20.185) can anyone help??? Thanks, Gary PS System is running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Hi Gary, Unfortunately, due to licensing restrictions imposed by Corel (Intervideo), WinDVD BD cannot be installed except as part of a complete System Recovery and reinstallation of the Sony OEM Operating System. Corel will not allow use of the Installer Version of WinDVD BD to be used in any other way to prevent anyone downloading and installing their software except as part of the Sony software.
All rights reserved. Terms of Use Privacy Except nothing actually happens, no download starts and nothing is updated no matter how long I leave it. Anyone know anything??? Discovered turning off UAC causes the update window stating Key Downloading to close rather than just lock on the screen but still it downloads nothing and does not update, aslo tried running windvd as an adminsitrator still nothing, curiously there is nothing on this that I can find on the Sony VAIO suppoert site for my model. WinDVD BD for VAIO isn't even listed amongst the installed software? I'm guessing this is just something Sony left undealt with on older units and I'm stuffed and would have to buy new software? Well option 1 if you don't mind spending a bit of money is which runs in the background and will neutralize the AACS DRM completely so you can continue to use the software you have & not be prompted for AACS key updates as there is none as far as the software is concerned (try the demo version to be sure).

Windows 10, as of this writing, will not have native facilities for Blu Ray playing. I am NOT a Directly 'Independent Advisor' despite the badge that says I am. Dear Mr Wynne, please read my reply again. I find it hard to notice anything rude in it. I did thank Sara for her prompt reply and merely stated my opinion on the matter (last time I checked it was still legal) I did contact Sony and they came back saying not to update the OS to Windows 10 and to buy a new machine with Windows 10.

Particularly galling when I'm unemployed and can ill afford it. Sony should build their update software with a roll-back/undo option or offer their customers a viable alternative to a complete system rebuild. Why can't the Vaio laptops come with a hardware decoder? After all, they make stand-alone Blu-ray players! For those of you who need a solution you can get PowerDVD from ( ). Hello, I would like to inform you that I have the exact same problems since WinDVD was updated this week to version 8.8.0.154.
